Citizens for a New Tree Ordinance (Citz4Trees) was formed in 2015.
By May 17, 2016 the Board of County Commissioner's recognized Citz4Trees as a stakeholder and directed staff to bring back changes to the land development code that would preserve the tree canopy.
In 2016 and 2017 Hurricanes Matthew and Irma intervened and stopped progress.
In 2018 Citz4trees proposals are in the hands of county staff and commissioners as the staff moves forward with the 2016 directive to amend the code to preserve trees.
In the three years, MASSIVE clear cutting has occurred across the county. Approximately 100,000 home permits are outstanding for more clear cutting. The people who live here are UNSPEAKABLY ANGRY at the loss of the beauty of their county at the hands of developers.
